All music produced, performed, mixed,
and mastered by Terry Skaggs in the Map Room.
These tracks were the incidental music for my life over much of
2008. Whether I was driving, shopping, working, or reading chances
are this music was the score. It will always be tied to this time
in my life. These are photographs of moments etched with sound upon
trembling air.
After a busy year with musical collaborations and compromises with
Marc and Prenzie Players it was my turn to stretch out and do some
things on my own.
Presented here almost chronologically to their creation, the first
three tracks are postcards from summertime and are painted in easy
swirls of warm colors. The next three were realized during autumn
and remind me of my drives searching for sunsets along harvested
fields in cool weather. The last three were written during the winter
and are more still and blue colored than the warmer piece which
preceded.
I should note that "Dolores Haze" while inspired by Nabokov
features two short samples from Bass Communion's Molotov
and Haze (buy
it here).
"Two Rituals For Autumn" features two brief passages adapted
from Henryk Górecki's Symphony
No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs) (buy
it here).
"Lament For A Grey Landscape" contains samples from Giuseppe
Tornatore's wonderful film "La Leggenda del pianista sull'oceano"
(aka "The Legend Of 1900"). Anyone with any passion for
creating music and experiencing life through their own special filters
should watch it sometime (better yet, buy
it here).
